
Yesterday, 1st June, 2022 ATOGS Board Chairman and other key stakeholders to the Energy Sector Development joined Minister for Energy (MoE), Hon. January Yusuf Makamba (MP) during the first Ministerial Budget Submission Day for the financial year 2022/23 to the National Assembly in Dodoma.
Hon. January Yusuf Makamba has asked the Parliament to approve a total Budget of Shs. 2,905,981,533,000 (TZS. 2.9 Trillion) for the Financial Year 2022/23 for the Ministry of Energy and its Institutions/agencies.
On behalf of Board of Directors, Management, entire Secretariat and our Esteemed Members, the Association of Tanzania Oil and Gas Service Providers (ATOGS) would like to congratulate Hon. January Yusuf Makamba on the remarkable job he has done on putting the Ministry of Energy budget together at the National Assembly.
KEY HIGHLIGHTS OF BUDGET IMPLEMENTATION PLAN FOR THE FINANCIAL YEAR 2022/23
- Implementation of various production, transportation and transmission including National Grid expansion in the regions of Katavi, Kigoma and Kagera and large Project of Strengthening the National Grid Stabilization Project;
- Implementing Rural Energy Projects and to start mechanism to transmit/supply electricity to all villages and neighborhoods in the country;
- Complete LNG Lindi project negotiations and start preparation for its implementation as soon as possible;
- Implementing renewable energy projects including geothermal, wind, solar power e.t.c in line with Energy Efficiency and Conservation;
- Ensuring availability of Petroleum products in the country, including the establishment of the Strategic Petroleum Reserve and Fuel Price Stabilization Fund (FPSF);
- Strengthening TPDC and its Subsidiaries TANOIL and GASCO;
- Improving storage infrastructures for petroleum products e.t.c at the Ports of Dar es Salaam, Tanga and Mtwara and Customs Bonded Deposits Warehouse and Single Receiving Terminal;
- Strengthen the performance of institutions/agencies under the Ministry of Energy including REA, TANESCO, EWURA and PBPA as well as services provided by these institutions;
- Increase Private Sector involvement and participation in investment in the Energy sector;
- Ensure indigenous participation (Local Content) in Energy, Oil and Gas Sectors;
- Revitalize and Strengthen Oil and Gas exploration activities;
- Increase energy consumption of cooking gas (LPG) and in automobiles and factories (CNG);
ATOGS will continue working together with Ministry of Energy for sustainable Energy, Oil and Gas sector development.
